Vipassana Meditation Retreat with Visu

Tuesday June 30th to tuesday July 7th 2009

At the Dharmahouse in the south of France

This 8 day course on insight meditation is based on the way as taught in the Burmese Satipatthana Vipassana meditation method. It involves moment-to-moment awareness on the mind-body processes as they arise and pass away, finally leading to the liberating insight of the 3 universal characteristics. Waking up is at 5 am and continues with alternate hourly sitting and walking sessions. Regular interviews will be given to check up on one's progress and technique. An hourly session on loving-kindness meditation is included at the end of each day. This retreat will follow the traditional practice of not eating after mid-day (soup/fruit can be supplied for those that have the medical need to eat in the evenings)

The course is suitable for both beginners and veterans.

Please visit http://www.thedharmahouse.com for more information more about Visu and Vipassana Meditation.

SANGHA LODGE - Association of Engaged Buddhists
LEARNING TO BY LAZY...

Weekend Retreat with Ven. Tejadhammo 10 July - 12 July 2009

Ven. Tejadhammo is an Australian monk and resident teacher with the Association of Engaged Buddhists, Sydney. He spent many years in Thailand, where he ordained as a monk, teaching in wats, universities and jails. He has recently return from a retreat with the Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh in Plum Village, France, and this weekend retreat will pass on some of the teachings he received there.

Most people think of laziness as a bad and essentially unprofitable thing. This ordinary laziness is often associated with avoidance and a lack of enthusiasm. But is it possible that there is another kind of laziness which we can learn and put into practice which might actually be of great benefit to ourselves and others, which might b e a blessing in our spiritual life? This w/e retreat aims to teach how to be truly lazy, truly at ease and how to find some real spiritual peace of heart and mind.

Pa Auk Sayadaw Meditation Retreat June 21-July 19

We at Pagoda Phat Hue are honored to announce the rare visit of the Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw to our new seminar and retreat center located by the forests of central Germany. The Venerable Sayadaw has agreed to a one-month meditation retreat with single week retreat options available.

The Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw is a world-renowned meditation master and scholar from the Burmese forest traditions of the Theravada. He currently heads the many Pa Auk Forest Retreat Centers that can be found in Buddhist countries around the world.

The method brought forth by the Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw is closely in line with those teachings contained within the Vissudhimagga (Path of Purification). The Venerable Sayadaw carries one of the only living Theravada Abhidhamma traditions in the world, in which the teachings of the “special dhamma” are not only intellectualized but also directly experienced by the practitioner. The Pa Auk Sayadaw reins as one of the foremost meditation masters and Buddhist scholars in the world today.

Due to large interest in this retreat, space is limited.

Meditation for Today

Meditation for Today was established in 1993 by Philippa (then Pip) Ransome, when Venerable Ayya Khema (1923-1997) asked her to teach meditation and the Dhamma. Ayya Khema, one of the great mystics of the twentieth century, is remembered for the clarity of her teachings and especially her understanding of the meditative absorptions. Philippa is one of only 6 teachers in Australia authorised by Ayya to pass on the Buddha’s teachings and Meditation for Today is dedicated to this purpose.

Retreats range from 1 to 10 days in length to meet the needs of beginning meditators and those already practicing towards stream entry. Unless otherwise stated all retreats are offered at Nyora Forest Retreat situated in the beautiful Yarra Valley an hours drive from Melbourne.

The teaching is pure, simple, joyful and speaks to the heart.
May you be well and happy!

Visit: www.buddhanet.net/bodhi-tree/downloads.html for the Bodhi Tree download page for information in Adobe PDF format, which can be downloaded for information on retreat registration, driving directions and maps to Bodhi Tree.

Daily interviews and Dhamma talks will assist and guide meditators as they progress along the paths of these practices. The purpose of a retreat is to gain understanding and insight into the way our minds and beings interact with and affect our internal and external worlds. It is designed to cultivate clear self-awareness and develop a number of tools that can be applied usefully to daily life.

There is no set cost. The retreats are by Dana. Dana means 'giving'. In the tradition the teachings are given freely. For the teachings to continue you can give to support the teachers and the monastery. So there is no set cost - your Dana donation is up to you.
