The United Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation in Australia - New Zealand (UVBC-ANZ) under the authority of the World Buddhist Sangha Council (by unanimous resolution at the Seventh Congress of the WBSC in Taiwan 2000) is honoured to announce that it will host the First Executive Conference of the Seventh World Buddhist Sangha Council Congress and the Third World Buddhist Sangha Council Youth General Conference in Sydney, Australia from 9th to 13th November 2004.

About the WBSC
The World Buddhist Sangha Council was founded in Colombo, Sri Lanka in May 1966 to bring together the world Buddhist Sangha, facilitate the teaching and practice of Buddha Dharma and contribute to the realisation of peace and harmony in the world community for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Today, the World Buddhist Sangha Council (WBSC) is a significant international non-government organisation (NGO) with representatives from countries all over the world including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Great Britain and USA.

The 7th General Conference of the WBSC was held in Taiwan from 10th to 16th November 2000 with over 300 participants from all over the world. The General Conference confirmed by unanimous resolution that the United Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation in Australia-New Zealand shall host the 1st Executive Conference of the 7th WBSC Congress in Sydney, Australia.

Volunteers Invited
Buddhism is a teaching of peace, wisdom and compassion. Today more and more people are turning to Buddhism in their search for spiritual fulfilment, finding strength in its wisdom and pragmatic approach. It is one of the fastest growing religions in the world and is the fastest growing religion in Australia. Buddhism has contributed greatly to spreading the message of world peace and harmony.

When the World Buddhist Sangha meet in Sydney in 2004, Australians will for the first time, have the opportunity to meet international Venerables of highest standing and learn from their wisdom and compassion. Australians will have the chance to understand more about the unique Buddhist spiritual culture why this significant teaching play such an central role in the lives of so many people in the world.
