The
World Buddhist Directory Database is online - at last!
The
new World Buddhist Directory database is in the final testing
phase and has gone live as of December 2006. This will greatly
enhance search functionality and provide a range of statistics
on Buddhist Organisations world-wide, as well as speeding up
the addition of new entries and making any changes to existing
ones. An email will be sent to all current organisations listed
in the directory providing a web page where their existing entries
can be updated for the new database format.
We
ask Buddhist organisations and centres world-wide to check their
directory listing/s for accuracy and/or come up with new listings
in their locality. There are online forms for each region. This
is a service that will benefit the growth of the Buddha Dharma
world-wide - please help us to help you - it is a free non-sectarian
service supported entirely by the generosity or Dana of the
World Wide Buddhist Sangha - to make a much appreciated secure
donation, click here.

NEW HOME
OF BUDDHANET.NET
FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE SOUGHT TO DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN OUR PROPERTY
The 95 acre
property has now been purchased on a part loan, which we need
to pay back at $AUS1,500 a month. We also need help to pay for
our ongoing cost and to develop and maintain the property.
Bodhi Tree
Forest Monastery & Retreat Centre - home of Buddhanet.net
- is asking for financial support from the larger National and
International Buddhist community.
Currently we are paying back the loan for the 95 acres of beautiful
land, associated buildings and infrastructure at Tullera, five
minutes from Lismore in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales,
Australia.
We need help to create, maintain and sustain the development
of the Monastery and Retreat Centre; and, to establish a new
home for Buddhanet.net. Our Monastery and Retreat Centre - as
well as Buddhanet.net - is run by the Buddha Dharma Education
Association (BDEA Inc.), a not-for-profit Buddhist organisation,
and is supported entirely by Dana (donations). The
BDEA Inc. was established in 1992 by Venerable Pannyavaro Thera
who was ordained in Thailand over 20 years ago. Ven. Pannyavaro
is Vice-president of the World Fellowship of Buddhists and the
Buddhist Federation of Australia.
Our current situation is this:
We are repaying the loan back at AUD$1,500 per month out of
limited funds We have already spent AUD$25,000 on internal roads,
grading and clearing on the property
Buddhanet.net
is currently run from a new office we are building at Bodhi
Tree. BuddhaNet is one of the largest Buddhist websites in the
world with over 750,000 hits per day; is ranked number one on
the Google search engine; has won many major international awards;
and has recently been acknowledged by National Geographic and
PC Magazine as one of the top websites on the Internet.
What we need help with:
•AUD$A1,500 monthly repayment of the
loan.
•AUD$1,000 pledged recurrently per month
are the extra funds we require to cover expenses.
•AUD$500 to be pledged recurrently per
month to cover the further development of Buddhanet.net
•Donations (Dana) by way of a tractor, tools, materials,
equipment, food or labour.
